County Road Ice House: The Ultimate Destination for American BBQ and Casual Dining

This is a good location and restaurant if you are looking for basic bbq. The food is coming out quickly, and offers a basic bbq experience. There is definitely room to move this up. My food was warm and tasted ok. The Kansas City flavor profile that I was expecting, was definitely not there. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The location is great, in walking distance to most of the major hotels in downtown, and right next to KC Live. My score is 4.1.

Such a great and authentic place. Ribs were amazing and the baked beans off the hook! You’re going to need the paper towels. Cool vibe and great country music. Great place to pre-game like we were or watch a game. We’ll be back!

One of the few places that could accommodate 10 on same-day reservation. Fairly priced (barbecue is always priced a bit touristy...). Solid portions of local barbecue; FYI a full rack is probably too many ribs. Easy space, and hard to beat within walking distance.

Food was great. Super cool location. The bartender I think his name name was Adam was amazing and has a great personality. Pretty cool tattoos also. He even made me one of the best rusty nails I have ever had. I will definitely be going back.

I heard the Brisket Z-Man sandwich was highly recommended, and I see why! The brisket was unbelievably tender and flavorful, the cheese melted perfectly, and the sweetness of the BBQ sauce balanced beautifully with the smokiness of the meat. Add the crunch of the onion rings — and you’ve got a perfectly balanced sandwich. But let’s talk about the fries. I was not prepared for how GOOD they were! French fries are my favorite food — I consider myself a connoisseur — and I was absolutely blown away. The double-fry made them perfectly crispy, and the seasoning? Addicting. Good fries don’t even need condiments, however the combo of the original BBQ sauce with those seasoned fries? Chef’s kiss. Unmatched duo! I immediately went to the market to buy the original bbq sauce and the fry seasoning to take home. Joe’s truly lived up to the hype — a Kansas City must-try!

Our hotel was downtown and County Road was within walking distance. We stopped in for lunch before a Sunday night chiefs game. The bartender recommended the wings, so that's what we split. They are smoked first then fried before service. They only have bbq and buffalo sauce, which we got on the side so we could try both. I must admit the wings were very tasty, served hot and some of the juiciest I've ever had. The sauces were great and homemade along with the ranch and blue cheese dressing. Very good meal and just enough for the two of us to munch on before the game.
